Midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne has joined Serie A champions Napoli on a free transfer after spending 10 years at Manchester City.
Napoli has confirmed the signing of the Belgian International on a free transfer following his departure from Etihad.
Man City made public in April that the 33-year-old will not get a new contract, announcing that the midfielder would leave the club at the end of the season as his contract expires this summer. Man City attest that it’s a business decision following De Bruynes’s ten-year stay at the club.
Reports suggest that the midfielder had offers from MLS sides, including Inter Miami and Chicago Fire, but he preferred playing at the highest level and the Serie A champions match his choice.
De Bruyne underwent his medical in Rome and proceeded to meet with Napoli’s president Aurelio Laurentiis.
No thanks to injuries, De Bruyne found the net four times and made seven assists across 28 appearances in the Premier League last season.
