
The 2024/25 season in the English top flight and in Europe has been exceptional for clubs with birds associated with their identity and history. From Liverpool FC to Crystal Palace, these clubs showed their bravery by winning titles both in domestic competitions and in Europe.
NEWCASTLE UNITED- The Magpies

Though this is not the club official logo, the Magpies comes from their iconic black and white stripe kit, which resembles the plumage of a Magpies bird. The nickname has become deeply associated with the club’s identity, and fans often refer to themselves as part of the Magpies army.
Newcastle united achieved a historic milestone by winning the EFL cup (Caraboa Cup) marking their first major domestic trophy in 70 years. They secured this victory with a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the final at Wembley Stadium.
LIVERPOOL FC- The Liver Bird

The Liver Bird, a mythical-like creature is an important symbol of the club and the city of Liverpool. It appears on the club’s crest and often associated with the club’s heritage and pride
Liverpool FC clinched the 2024/25 Premier League title, marking their 20th English top flight championship and equalling Manchester United’s record for the most league titles in English football history. This triumph was particularly significant as it was their first since the 2019/20 season.
CRYSTAL PALACE- The Eagles

The Eagles, nickname of Crystal Palace was adopted in early 1970s under the then manager Malcolm Allison, who wanted to rebrand the club with a more dynamic identity- drawing inspiration from Portuguese club Benfica, whose mascot is also an Eagle.
Crystal Palace achieved a historic milestone by winning their first ever major trophy- the FA cup. Eberechi Eze scored the decisive goal in a 1-0 win against Manchester City.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR- The Cockerel

The club is associated with the Cockerel (rooster) often seen standing on a football in their crest. This is because Hotspur comes from Sir Harry Percy, a 14th century English knight nicknamed “Hotspur” for his fiery temperament. He was known for riding into battle with Spurs on his boots- hence the club’s full name and the cockerel mascot. Spurs is Tottenham’s nickname but the cockerel is center to the club’s identity.
Tottenham Hotspur ended a 17-year trophy drought by winning the 2025 UEFA Europa cup, marking their first European title since 1874. They edged out Manchester United 1-0 in the final at the Bilboa Stadium in Spain.
