AC Milan Tijjani Reijnders has agreed to join Manchester City for a £59M deal as Pep Guardiorla confirms his first major summer signing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, personal terms were settled earlier in the week as final formalities will follow suit.
The Netherlands international is coming at the right time to add more flare in the City midfield and also to pair with Ilkay Gundogan who is yet to fully connect with team as he did in his first spell. Also, Mateo Kovacic long-term injury and the vacuum created by Kevin De Bruyne who will join Napoli this summer, are reasons Pep swiftly opted for the Milan creative midfielder.
The 26-year old made his mark playing for the Rosseneri and was rewarded when he was named the best midfielder in the 2024/2025 season in Serie A, a confirmation of his hardwork and a testament to his growth thus far.
Reijnders will fit into Pep’s pattern of having a creative playmaker who can control the tempo of successive games and also make square runs in order to stretch opponents and create chances.
The Manchester City boss is convinced that the Milan strong man will bring these requirements and more to aid his team who went trophy-less in the just concluded season
