Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been lavishly rewarded for their historic WAFCON 2025 victory, receiving a wave of recognition and appreciation from the federal government and beyond. In a grand reception held in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu honored all 24 players with national awards, financial gifts, and new homes in celebration of their 10th continental crown.
Each Super Falcons player was conferred with the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) title—one of Nigeria’s highest civilian honors. Alongside this, the players were each given $100,000 (in naira) and a three-bedroom house as part of the government’s Renewed Hope Housing initiative. Coaches and support staff weren’t left out either—they each received $50,000 and the same housing offer.
The generosity didn’t stop there. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum added a bonus gift of ₦10 million to every player and crew member. In a touching show of support, members of the Super Eagles, led by vice-captain William Troost-Ekong, donated ₦1 million each to their female counterparts.
President Tinubu hailed the team’s courage, discipline, and impact on youth, calling their victory a “symbol of national pride and potential.” The grand gesture has stirred nationwide celebration—cementing the Falcons’ place not just in African football history, but also in the hearts of millions of Nigerians.
